Design
Konah is a modular lounge system designed with spatial efficiency and multifunctionality at its core. Conceived for compact living environments, the piece seamlessly transforms between a sofa, table, chair set, coffee table, ottoman, and open storage. Drawing inspiration from architectural form language and adaptive domestic design, Konah challenges the static nature of traditional furniture.
The primary frame is composed of hollow volumes that double as concealed storage for blankets and soft goods, while the elevated table surface is designed to accommodate media equipment, decorative objects, and cables. Companion units serve as stools for dining or work, and reconfigure into side tables, shelving units, or a centralized coffee table. Konah’s hybrid functionality is driven by a sensitivity to shifting domestic needs, merging form, function, and spatial fluidity.
Design
The final design of Konah emerged from an earlier Fragment Study, where I isolated and repurposed the form of the dominant figure within the composition. This structural silhouette served as the foundation for the central unit, establishing a strong visual anchor. In contrast, the accompanying seating elements were developed with a curvilinear language, softening the overall geometry and introducing a sense of tactility and approachability.
